HOG - Energy in brief
HOG -Energy is the leading interest organisation for the petroleum industry in the west Norwegian county of Hordaland.
This membership-based organization is dedicated to protecting the overall oil and gas interests of the region while helping strengthen its ability to meet the challenges facing the petroleum business in coming years.
Vision Hordaland will be a leading region in the development and processing of natural resources.
Object HOG - Energy will be a prime mover and facilitator, together with others, in the exploitation of natural resources in order to generate value creation in Hordaland.
This will be achieved by: · adopting environment-friendly natural gas as an energy source, an industrial raw material and a transport fuel · encouraging field development and tail production in mature areas which can yield activity in the county · reinforcing the national and international position of Hordaland companies in the petroleum sector, developing their expertise and maintaining their role · securing and further developing Bergen as an operations centre · strengthening research and development communities in Hordaland.

Results achieved by HOG include: · securing the development of Kvitebjørn and Visund in the North Sea · achieving continued operation of the Tampen area from Bergen · the formation of Naturgass Vest AS · construction of the gas liquefaction plant at Kollsnes · distribution of natural gas in Hordaland · construction of a liquefied natural gas terminal at CCB · 80 gas-fuelled buses in Bergen · gas-fuelled ferries in the Bjørne and Bokna fjords · gas-fuelled supply ships in the North Sea · co-generation power station in Sund · Norway’s largest gas conference, held annually in Bergen
